Well, posting is open but subscription is not. These are the parameters:

Ms. [log in to unmask] is not a subscriber.
Why does the list allow any yahoo in the world to post, even though
only UVM people can subscribe? That's so that any of us legitimate
subscribers can post messages without having to worry if we're using
the exact address we used when subscribing. Myron Kapoodle can post
as [log in to unmask], as [log in to unmask], and, when he's at
home, as [log in to unmask] It's a trade-off between convenience and
the occasional spam or nonsense message. You might say there is a
fine line between what one subscriber or person might consider
vexatious & what another might consider merely amusing (or even
normal!).
If subscribers feel strongly that posting should be restricted to
subscribers, I'll change it.
