Does a dead KILLDEER along side the road count as a first of the season bird?

Both COMMON AND HOODED MERGANZERS on pond in E. Dorset. Also enjoying FOX,
SONG AND TREE SPARROWS visiting our feeders. The latter was singing up a
storm this morning. Maybe he was trying to talk himself into heading north.
