Did the "Islands Tour" today and found many of the more interesting sightings near bridges.
At the Sandbar, there were close to 1,000 Common Goldeneye on the southwest side of the causeway as well as 4 Ring-necked Ducks, several Am. Wigeon, and 10 or 12 pairs of No. Pintails dabbling just off the beach. Near the So. Hero-No. Hero bridge was a flock of at least 300 C. Merganser. 4 pair of Ring-necked Ducks swam near the No. Hero-Alburg bridge. The Isle la Motte bridge hosted 2 pair of No. Pintails and a pair of Gadwall. There were 3 pair of Ring-necked Ducks at the Alburg-Swanton bridge.
Other sightings of interest were 3 Ring-necked Ducks by East Shore Rd. in Grand Isle, a mixed flock of at least 500 Snow and Canada Geese (80% Snow) that flew over the intersection of Middle and West Shore Roads in Alburg to land about 150' from shore...and a bush/tree of fully developed pussy willows on Bridge Rd. in No. Hero.
