Bill Shepard and I spent a fun day around Lake Champlain on Saturday 16th.
43 species in total.
Several large flocks of R W Blackbirds (numbers in the 100's) containing some Grackles and a few Brown Headed Cowbirds. 5 flocks of Snow Geese with up to a couple hundred birds in each group, hunckered down out of the wind.
60+ Common Redpolls near Shelburne Farms.
Species of interest:
2 D Cr Cormorants in flt at Crown Point Bridge. Also at this loc'n a Bald Eagle, Song Sparrow and 2 American Wigeon in flt.
4 Horned Grebes at Charlotte Beach.
In the Dead Creek, S. Addison area were a scattering of Horned larks and 1 Snow Bunting, 3 Gadwall, Green Winged Teal, N. Pintails, 2 Killdeer, 5 Red T Hawks and 5 Rough L Hawks (1 dk phase), 2 Am. Kestrels. Also a Song Sparrow hanging out with an Am. Tree Sparrow.
Ft Cassin: 18 Hooded Mergs. 2 Wood Duck.
Delta Park: 4 American Wigeon (3 male, 1 female)
+ Overall good numbers of Common Goldeneye, Common Mergs, Buffelheads, Mallard and Blacks.
