One typically observes quite a few flocks of robins throughout winters in
Vermont, and plenty people on the list have reported them. I guess one
would have to ask whether these birds are migratory from places colder
than Vermont or if some of them are year-around inhabitants. I get the
impression that the correlation between robin sightings and spring is a
myth and that red-winged blackbirds and turkey vultures are the true
indicators that the season is changing. I'm not speaking from knowledge,
merely regurgitating what I've heard from people smarter than I am.
