Various quasi-public organizations in Middlebury are sponsoring
hikes this summer to celebrate the recently completed Trail Around
Middlebury. Each hike has a different theme - this Saturday's is birding.
The hike is sponsored by Ilsley Public Library and features leader Warren
King of the Otter Creek Audubon Society. Meet at 6:30 AM (groan!) at Wright
Park (the old Middlebury Stump Dump). Rain or shine - approximately 2 miles
of mostly level walking.
To get to Wright Park, go west off of Rt.7 at the first traffic
light north of the Congregational Church (Elm St.). Go through the stop
sign by Greg's Market and continue straight under the railroad bridge. Bear
right onto Seymour Street and go north about a third of a mile to the Pulp
Mill Bridge (which is closed for repairs - don't try to come in from the
north on Horse Farm Road). Take a right just short of the bridge and
proceed about half a mile to Wright Park.
See you there.
