A friend living on the New Haven River in Bristol
has taken an interest in birds. She reported
seeing a Bewick's Wren at her house earlier this
week. I told her that a Bewick's was extremely
unlikely and suggested that she might instead have
a Carolina Wren. She called this morning, and I
heard the Carolina Wren singing over the phone.

Birding by phone is better than no birding
at all... and I didn't even have to pay for the
call.
