A Whip-poor-will could be heard calling at first twilight (about 4am) on
the southern edge of Snake Mountain along the Cornwall-Bridport line
this morning. It seemed to be passing through. After each call it was
in a new place, progressing up the east side of the forested slope to
the crest where there are dry oak-pine-red cedar woods. I have heard a
Whip-poor-will there once or twice a year about every 2nd year for the
last 25 years.
