I also feed many starling pairs and chicks suet - have you noticed
how noisy the starling chicks are - how do the parents keep their
cool? For a few weeks I had to put out two cakes a day in order for
there to be any left for the woodpeckers.   Anyway, I bought a
house type feeder with the suet facing the ground.  I am told the
starlings cannot go there but the only bird that has found it is a
tufted titmouse.  I haven't figured out how to show the downys and
hairys where it is.  Right now, the two hanging cake feeders are not
being devoured so quickly as the starlings have moved on to
something else so the woodpeckers are using those.  Anyone have
any ideas about how to get the woodpeckers to choose that feeder?
