Do you mean dealing with the deep or superficial venous system, or both?
We have eliminated the physiological venous exam totally at our facilities.
With a primarily geriatric population (compromised, confused, combative,
fetal positons, etc.) the physiologic study was not a good study to perform.
There is a good article in the JVT 26(2):139-146, 2002, (I am not endorsing
the manufacturer in this article) that explains a venous reflux exam. I find
this to be helpful to the sonographers that have a command of the deep system
and want to review the superficial system. Just looking to add some education
for the "new-blood's", so to speak.
