Mona and I were at Dead Creek yesterday morning. Lots and lots of
Great Egrets and GBH's, five or six Black-Crowned Night Herons, and a lot
of sandpipers of various persuasions. All of this in addition to five
Red-Tails, a pair of Broad-Wings and a Northern Harrier.
The draw down may have gone far enough - we noticed that the
impoundment is beginning to smell of dead fish and clams. There were a lot
of big carp thrashing about in very shallow water. It looks like a grand
buffet for eagles and ospreys, but we saw neither.
