The Chester RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD continues to visit a feeder at the home
of Ginny Freeman on Flamstead Road. It was present as recently as today. Her
number is 802-875-2750. Ginny reports that the RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS
were last seen on Monday, 9/23. A RUBY-THROAT was seen in Norwich on the
25th, and there were reports from Moretown, Montpelier and Whiting on the
PHILADELPHIA VIREO, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and TENNESSEE WARBLER
highlighted a good passerine fall out at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington
on the 23rd. Other WARBLERS seen were MAGNOLIA, CHESTNUT-SIDED,
BLACK-THROATED GREEN, BLACK-THROATED BLUE, BLACKPOLL, BAY-BREASTED, PINE and
YELLOW-RUMPED. A SCARLET TANAGER was also present.
Elsewhere, observers reported a flurry of migrant activity highlighted
by a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH at Leffertšs Pond on the 21st, 2 GREAT CRESTED
FLYCATCHERS at Tinmouth Channel WMA on the 23rd, COMMON NIGHTHAWK, 37 GRAY
CATBIRDS and 8 species of WARBLERS at Union Village Dam in Thetford on the
23rd, and PALM WARBLER and 6 LINCOLNšS SPARROWS there on the 27th.
Up to 6 SANDERLINGS were found at Charlotte Town Beach over last
weekend. At least 400 BONAPARTEšS GULLS were also seen. More recently, 13
GREATER SCAUP were seen on the 23rd, while 6 COMMON LOONS, 4 HORNED GREBES,
and 16 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were spotted on the 24th.
The flock of about 15 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERS was still being seen at
the intersection of Bostwick and Beach Roads in Charlotte as of last
Apparently, the impoundment at Brilyea Access is nearly full.
BROAD-WINGED HAWKS were still moving through in good numbers over Putney
Mountain. 1002 were counted in four days of hawk watching with a peak of 435
on the 23rd. An early ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was reported, on the 23rd.
A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen over Athens on the 20th.
