Yesterday morning, at about 8:15, the neighborhood crows started
raising a racket. I pulled myself out of bed (yes, it's great to be
retired), and noticed a juvie bald eagle flying around. He didn't leave
immediately, but circled around a couple of times, about 100' above the
river. Flat wings, compact body, big beak, and a wing aspect ratio like a
stick of Wrigley's gum.
I've seen eagles flying over our place a few times, but this was the
first time I've seen one close at hand.
