Five SANDERLINGS visited the gravel bar at Charlotte Town Beach this
morning. At least three of these birds were different individuals from
those seen yesterday. All showed remnants of female breeding plumage.
Yesterday's lot included four first year birds.
Dead Creek is indeed drying as Wayne noted in this week's RBA, but there
are still a fair number of shorebirds including all reported on the 13th
plus four DUNLINS. The odor of decay is quite strong, but it kills off
enough olfactory nerves in the first ten minutes so that it's bearable
for the rest of the visit.
