Bob,
Is everything/everyone routed across the proxy server?
Where is your email server, behind the proxy or in the DMZ?
Do you mean you can't ping to outside from the 2000 machines only or
from all?
Has this always been the case with your 2000 clients or did it change
suddenly?
Are the mail clients on the 98's the same as on the 2000's?
This probably isn't where the problem is since your 98 machines are
getting through, but it might not hurt to check that you have port 25
(SMTP) and port 110 (POP3) open on your firewall.

Hi All,
Now that no one is in the building I get to work on some problems.
We are running an NT 4.0 server with MS Proxy 2.0. We are not able to
send or receive email from a Windows 2000 client. We can't ping to any
address outside the server. The browser works fine through the proxy.
All of our Win 98 clients can send mail through the server.
I'm trying to determine if this is a workstation problem or a proxy
server problem. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Bob Owens
