Thanks for all of the responses. It was the proxy client that had to be
installed. As soon as I saw the reply from Paul Wood I realized that the
client was not installed.
Once the client was installed the email worked fine. The proxy server worked
for the web but would not allow mail in or out until the client was
installed.
