Don't know the answer to that specific question. But with the $200 annual
purchase requirement/share they are pretty much assured of breaking even
whether in a good year or a bad. In 2000-01, a great year, they made 70%
profit, which led the nation. I am quite sure that they have finished in
the black every year since the coop started. I wonder if any other
eastern area can claim that. I'll bet not. (Alta has finished in the
black every year since they opened in 1938.) Wes and others who really
know the facts can correct me if I'm wrong.
I bought my share to help save a special place, not as an investment. I
think this attitude describes the majority of shareholders. Admittedly
this is a niche market that MRG fills very well, and that is never going
to get much bigger. Who cares? Buy it if you can!
