"the front-office has been
making good decisions so leave it up to the CashMan"

You mean like the following scintillating, almost Beane-esque moves?

Jeter - 10 years at $190MM - perhaps the most overpaid player in baseball
for his lack of production

Mondesi trade - an underperforming malcontent who is vastly overrated
defensively for $5-6MM per

Nelson - his absence was the reason Rivera was overused last post-season
and was then vulnerable in Game 7

RonDL - 2 years at any price is too much, let alone $10MM

Hitchcock - don't think I need to even address this one

Henson - $17MM for an unproven guy who proceeded to hit .240 (.202 after
Memorial Day) in AAA with about 170 strikeouts. He's the next....poor
man's Dean Palmer

Andy Morales - $4MM for a guy who couldn't even hit above the Mendoza
linein AA

El Duquecito - not exactly lighting up the minors and will never be a legit
major league starter

Karsay - nice signing, but $25MM for a middle reliever? no thanks.

There are two reasons the Yanks are still able to compete despite all these
1) Stick Michael - he built the core of this team and gets FAR too little

2) Steinbrenner's cash

No other team in baseball could make so many ill-advised moves and continue
to win like they have. Why worry about mistakes like RonDL when you can
sign Giambi for $117MM and double the 2nd place bidder's price for a free
agent from the Japan leagues named Soriano?

Also, it should be noted that there will no zero help coming from the
Yankees minor league system any time soon. They've traded all of their top
prospects and the ones who've remained are either busts (Duquecito, Henson)
or are injured. Yanks may have one of the 5 worst systems in baseball
right now.

Mandatory VT ski content: Thanks everyone for your feedback both on and off
list regarding AT setups. I think I'm going with the Freerides as a first
step, but am definitely intrigued by the concept of using a softer AT boot
as well.
