Subject: Medicare Provider Cut Update
Hello all. Last night, Congress passed a continuing resolution allowing the
government to operate until January 12. Unfortunately, however, it did not
include a Medicare provider fix. In response, a provision was included in
H.R. 5063, the Armed Forces Tax Fairness Act, which will be voted on
tonight, enabling the Bush Administration to fix the payment mistake.
Please send out the message below on the list serve urging members to call
in support of the bill. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Vote For HR 5063 Today !!
HR 5063, to be voted on today, will fix Medicare mistake
The U.S. House of Representatives will vote today on H.R. 5063. This bill
includes a provision which enables the Bush Administration to fix the
Medicare physician payment mistake, which lead to a 5.4% cut for all
providers under the Medicare program earlier this year.
HR 5063, as amended, was reported out of the Rules Committee late last night
and will be on the floor today. It includes a Medicare provision on the
physician Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR).
We need your avid support to pass this bill and finally fix the SGR formula.
This is most likely our last chance this year to get this issue addressed.
Please contact the members of your state's U.S. House delegation as soon as
possible and tell them to vote for HR 5063. The U.S. Capitol switchboard can
be reached at 202-225-3121. Simply ask for the office you'd like to speak
to.
