In Williston we had our first australian ballot vote
of the budget last year. We voted to change two years
ago at Town Meeting. The voters seem to like the
australian ballot better - expecially those who vote
absentee from Florida. The down side to the
australian ballot vote is that the majority of the
voters are totally uninformed about what they are
voting on. When voting from the floor at least there
is discussion about what goes into the budget so
people generally know what they are voting for or
against. The other thing with australian ballot is
that there is no opportunity to make any changes to
the budget - it is all or nothing.
