It was interesting to see the movement tonight of the crows.
Between 5 and 5:15 many groups of crows flew southeast above
my house on Shelburne Rd in Burlington, none of them landing
where they did last night. There were at least 100, probably more.
The movement in that direction was already in progress when I
went outside so I do not know how many I missed. . At around 5:25
hundreds of crows flew out of the southeast back in the direction
that the original crows had come from - the general direction of the
downtown waterfront. I got out my Sibley Guide to find that this
gathering in the winter is not unusual. There actually were 1 million
counted together once in Oklahoma and Nebraska (I am
impressed with those counters). I cannot help but wonder how they
all know where to meet.....and they are so punctual.
Did anyone else see this large flock? Where were they when you
saw them? Jo Ann Lafayette Burlington
