The birds cooperated for the Great Backyard Bird Count. My Carolina wren put in an appearance, and a single robin passed through. Three pigeons showed up then left in a hurry. I ran to the window in time to see a single feather floating down (pardon the pun), but nothing else. About five minutes later, an adult Coopers hawk came and sat in my large silver maple. After about a minute, he glided down to the street, picked up a dead pigeon and flew off! Only question is, how many pigeons should I have reported?
