On Mon, 3 Mar 2003 Roxanne Frantzen asked for "easy to read" information
on medications, particularly about psychotropics.

I'd like to suggest the PDFs available from T-MAP, the Texas Medication
ALgorithm Program, which have English and Spanish fact sheets and handouts
for patients with major mental illnesses (schizophrenia, and mood
disorders such as major drpression and bi-polar depression, etc.). Some
of the T-MAP items specifically address medication information. They can
be accessed at

Texas Medication Algorithm Project. Patient/Family Education Materials.
http://www.mhmr.state.tx.us/centraloffice/medicaldirector/PtEd.html

Other good sources for "easy to read" patient information (with less
material on mental illness, alas) include the following:

National Center for Farmworker Health, Inc. Bilingual Patient Education
Materials. http://www.ncfh.org/pateduc.htm

AND

University of California San Francisco. Student Homeless Clinic.
Low-Literacy Patient Education Handouts.
