I just got off the phone with the Medical Division of the former Rowecom now
Ebsco. A news release just went out (at 10 A.M. Eastern Standard time).
The sale was finalized. Any subscriptions that were renewed for 2003 (if
you were lucky) will be managed by Ebsco now, same office, 800-999-3594 EXT.
4955 (Medical Division with 5-7 reps, whomever answers the phone is "it").

The fate of the subscriptions that were paid for but NOT renewed is awaiting
response from ALL publishers (the formal letters requesting signatures that
were sent by the Kurtzman Law Firm 2 days ago to all customers and
publishers). The date specified for signature return is March 15, but I was
told this morning that clarification as to which publisher agrees to provide
free journals will not be available before "sometimes in April". (libraries
are requested to sign if they agree to go with Ebsco). At that point, if
the PUBLISHER does not agree, subscribers will have to decide to either pay
EBSCO again or go it direct to publishers to renew their subscriptions.
This brings us to mid-2003 by the time this mess is settled and we get our
journals....
