Okay, so I didn't really see an ostrich, but I was treated to a number of
nice sightings this morning on the way to and at the farm in Shelburne
(Bostwick Rd.) where we have our horses.
1 large lone tom turkey -- not sure where his usual comrades were this
several small rabbits
a pair of kestrels flying around in a smallish patch of hardwoods, calling
nuthatches busily doing nuthatch-y things
woodpeckers drumming, including a pileated, I think. What a wonderful
The icing on the cake was a pair of otters sunning themselves and grooming
one another next to a small pond. Unfortunately, my viewing was
interrupted by the arrival of another car and by the time I had parked and
walked back to the site, all that was left was a patch of wet grass where
the pair had been. A treat none-the-less.
