During a Waterfowl Breeding Pair survey this morning, in addition
to the usual Mallards, Blue-winged Teals, and Wood Ducks, I saw:
Northern Harriers (m & f)
Am. Kestrel (f)
Wild Turkey (huge male, largest I've seen)
Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers (2)
C. Ravens (3, very noisy)
Tree Swallows (in force, claiming nest boxes)
Chipping Sparrows
Savannah Sparrows (very yellow eye stripes)
Fox Sparrows (2)
Song Sparrows (many)
Swamp Sparrows
E. Meadowlark (seems early)
Rusty Blackbirds (I think--white eye, not a grackle, but didn't
hear the "rusty hinge" call)
