Post-Doctoral Research Assistant
Department of Geology
We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant to undertake research
into vegetation response to rapid, short-lived environmental change across
the Paleocene/Eocene Thermal Maximum. The project will involve
palaeobotany, palynology, coal-petrology, sedimentology and organic
geochemistry (especially stable isotope analysis). The team leader is
Prof. M.E. Collinson with Prof. A.C. Scott, Dr J.J. Hooker (Natural History
Museum) and Dr D Gröcke, in collaboration with Dr Rich Pancost (Bristol).
The post, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, is available full time for a
period of 3 years commencing December 2003 at the latest. The successful
candidate will need a PhD in Earth, Life or Chemical Sciences, preferably
involving palaeoenvironmental analysis. Laboratory experience, enthusiasm
for multidisciplinary research and flexibility to work in two locations
(London and Bristol) are also necessary.
The salary for the post will be £20,399 - £23,259 p.a, inclusive of London
Allowance depending on experience and qualifications.
