Silas Miller and I spent a few hours looking for hawks from a couple different lookouts on Brigham Hill in Essex on Saturday. Despite a predominantly south wind, we had good numbers and great variety for our location.
Lots of broadwings as well as some kestrels and accipiters using thermals between 11 and noon, then lots of lower flying onesies and twosies after that. We had 11 raptor species for the day which is a record for us from this locale including a magnificent look at an adult BALD EAGLE then had HARRIER, MERLIN, GOSHAWK, OSPREY, along with all the usual suspects.
Happy hawkwatching,
