SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT MANAGEMENT TRAINING SERIES
(Part 3 of 5)

This is part 3 of a series of training that embraces the concept of Servant
Leadership.  Servant Leadership is a practical philosophy that supports
people who choose to serve first, and then lead as a way of expanding
service to individuals and institutions.  Servant-Leadership encourages
collaboration, trust, foresight, listening, and the ethical use of power
and empowerment.


WORK INCENTIVES FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

November 3, 2003

In this session you will learn the difference between SSDI and SSI and
about the work incentives SSA has built into each of these programs. Learn
how work incentives can be used to maintain eligibility for benefits and
how the people you work with can increase their income without losing
medical benefits.

Instructor: Alydia Payette

Learn how the VR Benefits Counseling Program:

o Provides comprehensive and accurate information to SSI/SSDI recipients on
the impact of employment on their benefits.

o Assists recipients to understand and utilize available work incentives.

o Helps recipients develop a financial/benefits management plan for their
transition to employment.

o Supports recipients as they increase their earned income and helps them
reduce their dependence on public benefits.
