A quick check of Brilyea this morning (Thursday) revealed very high water levels but still a couple of pleasant surprises along the causeway separating the two impoundments : (1) White-rumped Sandpiper walking along the causeway before flying off towards the south; (1) Snow Bunting; and (1) Greater Yellowlegs. In the wetlands were at least (25) Green-winged Teal, (1) N. Pintail, and (1) Common Merganser.

At the goose-viewing area were the usual thousands of Snow Geese (didn't check for a Ross's today although saw one close up about a week ago) and about (50) Mallards. On the way home via Plank Road in New Haven the flooded Little Otter Creek yielded another (3) Greater Yellowlegs and (2) Pectoral Sandpipers.
