It is my understanding that blue jays will take seeds and store them in tree cavities like squirrels store nuts.

Subject: Blue jays with crops?
Wile watching the blue jays feast at our feeders in Charlotte this
weekend, I noticed that several of them would fill what looked like a crop
below their beak with as many seeds as it would hold and then go away and
eat them. They weren't all doing this. I've noticed it before in some
individuals. Does anyone have any insight into this behavior? Do blue
jays really have crops?
