I'm actually sure it's neither. The S-video ports I've seen have two
rows of holes (3 over 5) and then a horizontal rectangular slot below
that. This had four holes (in a roof slant pattern) with a horizontal
rectangular slot just below the bottom pair of holes.

Perhaps -- but SuSE recovery boot was able to read the partition table
(it showed the NTFS partition, the Linux and Linux swap partitions).
Since I didn't examine the partition table before installing SuSE -- it
may well have used the recovery partition space to install linux if it
didn't recognize the partition type as anything useful [or worse as a
Linux partition to be destroyed] (I have more experience with RH than
SuSE at this point)
