VERMONT BREEDING BIRD ATLAS POSTING
In southern Vermont today the winds were kicking up at
gusts up to 40 mph, I am guessing. Midday, 8 juncos
appeared in my yard along with 3 pairs of bluebirds.
The bluebirds hung onto tree trunks while the juncos
pecked around on the ground for food. The blue of the
bluebirds was so strong, vivid, brilliant in the grey
November day, I gasped when I first saw them. Within
ten minutes, all had departed. Speaking for myself, I
would not have flown anywhere in this weather!
