The bird surprise of the day, as I stood out in my yard, was the sight
of an immature yellow rumped warbler that looked like it was desperately
trying to get into my house. It flew up against the vent at the top of
the house several times, tried to fly into the closed windows, flew
around the door for a while. Tried anything that even slightly resembled
an opening. In less than two minutes it was gone. Hopefully to warmer
climes. I have grown accustomed to the desires of the Asian ladybugs to
be my house guests, but... warblers?
