Last week I reported a first year male Baltimore Oriole which visited my feeder in South Newfane. Yesterday walking along Augur Hole Rd about a half mile from my home, I saw the remains of a first year male Baltimore Oriole in the middle of the road.
On more positive note.
Saturday I finally had a Fox Sparrow scratching beneath the feeders - first one this fall.
Also, first winter Chipping Sparrow
several Tree Sparrows & White-throated Sparrows.
lots of Dark-eyed Juncos
Pine Siskins have been appearing from time to time, following their every-other-year pattern. Last had them winter of 01-02.
Goldfinch and occasional Purple Finch
Downy & Hairy Woodpeckers
Northern Cardinal pair
As I write, four Evening Grosbeaks have appeared at the feeders, scarfing down seeds.

Hooded Mergansers - including four males displaying for a single female
