Wow, ten pairs! Cardinals have not been regular visitors to my feeder,
so I have felt so happy in the past week to have one male Cardinal be a
daily visitor. This guy seems to be hanging out with the bluejays to
ease the "loneliness" of the apparent absence of a female Cardinal.
It's all relative, isn't it? Just one Cardinal is a big increase for my
yard over virtually none.
>About 20 inches of snow here in Bennington this morning.
>A happy sight of 17 Evening Grosbeaks for a short time. I'm so happy I was looking out the window at the right time! In the last decade we might have 2-3 once a year in the spring flying through.
>Two C. Redpolls in Shaftsbury before the storm.
>A question: in general are people seeing fewer cardinals this winter? We usually have up to ten pairs - especially during a storm. This year we have one male, one female.
>Anyone who wishes to join the Bennington CB Count - it will be Dec. 14. Watchers at birdfeeders are welcomed to share their sightings. Please call to make sure you are within the circle and are "legal"!
