A rather bleak day (but good company!) at West
Rutland Marsh today. Six participants tallied 13
species. Red-tailed hawk (2); ruffed grouse (2);
downy woodpecker(1); mourning dove (5); blue jay
(25); American crow (6); black-capped chickadee
(18); northern cardinal (4); dark-eyed junco (2);
American tree sparrow (2); swamp sparrow (1);
American goldfinch (26); and house sparrow (26).
On another note, the brown thrasher reported at a
feeder(!) just north of Tinmouth was present as
of yesterday.
And finally, the Rutland County Audubon Christmas
Bird Count will be held Dec 27. Anyone interested
