Supported Employment
Specialized Training Seminar:

DEVELOPING NATURAL SUPPORTS IN THE WORKPLACE

March 2, 2004
Morey Lounge, Vermont Technical College
Randolph, Vermont
9:00 - 3:30

This seminar will build on commonly used supported employment
techniques by emphasizing and focusing on available work-site supports. By
re-conceptualizing the role of the employment specialist to that of a
facilitator for social inclusion and on-site support, participants will
begin to redefine the roles of the employment specialist and co-workers in
the supported employment process. Participants should bring examples or
concerns with them for discussion and problem solving.
There is a $25.00 registration fee to cover costs. Lunch will be
on your own. For information on the training contact Bryan Dague at (802)
656-1345.

Topics will include:

* Discussion of the concept of natural supports

* Keeping the "support" in natural supports

* Impact of individual assessment & job development

* Examining the workplace culture and environment

* Role of the employment specialist

* Strategies to facilitate natural supports

* Sharing of participant's successes and challenges

Cost: $25.00 per person.
