Just found out my email has been down for months. I receive emails, but my responses have been sitting out in space somewhere with no indication to me that they were undeliverable. Sorry.
I also get a lot of mortgages for $112, but if there is also an additional charge for riders or pages over and above a certain number it would probably balance out. It may also balance out on the 4 page mortgages we get from New England Federal Credit Union who would end up paying $80 rather than $28.
I also agree with the preservatio.
Not sure I can make the 5th. Having trouble with office coverage (again).

Sorry I haven't responded but have had computer problem, couldn't get e-mails etc, and also had a special Town meeting on Tuesday of all times of the year to have to do this.
I value your opinion and know that you are looking out for the Town Clerks in the State of Vermont so if you do not hear from me I know you will do what you think best. I think the $80 recording fee might be a little low as we get a lot for $112 or so. I know I'm late on this but income to the office is a big concern. With the expenses going up we really can't afford to lose revenues. The max # of pages sounds good with an additional $7 per page over and above.
I support your views on the preservation.
Strongly oppose eliminating the treasurers elected position!!
Can not make it on the 5th but am planning on being at Legislative Day. Hope to see you there.
What is happening with allowing digital cameras in safe to take pictures of land records. I had a guy go into the safe the other day and came out and asked how much he owed. He just had to pictures. I think his ear must still be burning. I was not happy with him!
Thank you for all your hard work concerning the Town Clerk's and Treasurers. I certainly appreciate it. Good Luck.
Town Clerk and Treasurer
Town of Burke

Subject: Legislative Public Hearing
The Local Government Committee is holding a Public Hearing on February 5th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm to hear from Town Clerks and other interested parties on the establishment of a Municipal Land Records Commission. This is the product created by the summer study committee. The Local Government Committee has been taking testimony and is very interested in moving this bill. Please set this date aside if you are interested. For further information, please contact me at 893-4111.
In reference to short form mortgages, I only received six (6) responses on the email sent last week. I guess that I have to assume that this is not a big issue with anyone. I have reported to the Local Government Committee that those that did respond do agree to the $80.oo flat fee for the mortgage and I also suggested that along with the $80.00 fee a $10.00 additional fee would go toward the Preservation Fund. I believe that the committee intends to move this bill as soon as possible as well.
