Hello my friends...
I had a little day trip to Dover, a half-hour train ride from Canterbury. The
town's kinda plain, but there's on old castle that sits on a hill overlooking
the town. There's a long span of history there. An ancient Roman lighthouse
stands at the top of the hill, next to the medieval castle and adjoining keep.
Then there are these underground tunnels used during both world wars and as a
center for government for southeast England in case of nuclear war. The cliffs
of Dover are pretty cool. The rock is actually chalk, so the cliffs are white
and very striking. In the tunnels I saw where the operations for the allied
evacuation of Dunkirk in 1942 and the operations for D-Day were
formulated...pretty interesting.
I get to see my mom for 3 days, from thursday till sunday or monday in London,
and then we're spending a day in Canterbury. I'm really looking forward to it.
Then its Amsterdam for 4 days, and then Brussells the following weekend.
Kate, I checked out your online journal and it all sounds amazing. My parents
dropped a bomb on me yesterday and told me they were planning trip into Africa
for summer '05! Your descriptions make it sound unbelievable.
Leeroy, I didn't know you were taking Danish classes? Good luck with that, my
friend. And I would strongly encourage a little Dead listen at Tivoli - it
sounds lovely!
Tess, Still coming into England? And did you get the journal by any chance?
Lys, more India Stories!!!! Of course, only when you have time.
Brooke, I'm probably gonna be able to get into Spain in late May. Of course,
that's a long way away, but just to let you know....I hope things are going
well with the host family.
Kieth, holding it down in Dobbs???
Laura, How's the family and classes? that independent study with the shaman
sounds amazing!!
Everybody's stories are so wonderful, I love reading them all.
Keep 'em comin!
Love to all,
Zach.
