Division G - Social Context of Education
2004 AERA Annual Meeting
Graduate Student Seminar

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Division G - The Social Context of Education, will sponsor a Graduate
Student Seminar in conjunction with the 2004 AERA Annual meeting in San
Diego. This seminar is designed for students at all levels of the graduate
school experience. The seminar will be held on Sunday April 11, 2004 from
8:30 a.m. to 4:00p.m., prior to the annual meeting.

Seminar topics will include: Preparing Future Faculty and Other Job
Possibilities, Preparing Work for Publication, and Funding Dissertation
Research. Guest speakers who are highly knowledgeable about these topics
will present. In addition to formal presentations from faculty, the
seminar will set aside time for graduate students to exchange ideas, talk
about research interests, network and build community. To that end, we are
seeking a balanced group of people from diverse backgrounds with varying
levels of experiences.

To apply, please complete the application form below. A committee of
graduate students and faculty members will review applications.
Applications are due by February 25, 2004. Please email your application
to: [log in to unmask] We hope to inform applicants of their
acceptance by March 5 so they can make travel arrangements. For more
information, questions or comments, contact Raymond Gunn at
[log in to unmask] or Satoko Siegel at [log in to unmask]

Seminar Format

The seminar will involve small group break-out sessions, large group
discussions, and guest speaker presentations. The seminar will take place
on Sunday April 11, 2004 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. A continental
breakfast and lunch will be provided. In addition, seminar participants
