"...Wesson was arrested Friday after emerging blood-covered from his Fresno
home, where authorities found nine bodies, tangled in a back room and
intertwined with clothing.
Investigators later determined the victims included six females and three
males, ranging in age from 1 to 24. Police said they believe the victims are
members of Wessonís family, but they declined to release names pending
notification of kin.
Believed to be involved in polygamy and incest, Wesson had fathered two
children with his own daughters ó grandchildren who are now among the victims,
according to Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
'Wesson had a strong influence on his sons, said Florian Tan, who in 2001 took
over the martial arts school where three of the sons attended classes.
Each boy had to earn a black belt in aikido in order to leave home when he
reached manhood, Tan said.
Two of the sons, now in their twenties, earned their black belts and a teenage
boy is still enrolled at the school. Tan said he believed the children were
schooled at home.
The boys were not allowed to attend aikido seminars or demonstrations on
weekends ó Tan wasnít sure the reason.
'Their dad didnít want them to be there," Tan said. "Thatís what they told
