I couldn't stand the title "Seriously" so I put a new one.
If someone is willing to do a forum, but is facing opposition due
to some people's desire for the quick notice of email...
why not send a message when a new forum topic is started
(such as movie voting)?
Subject: New CSSA Forum Topic: ******
****** could be "March Movie Night" or whatever
inside the email, give the web link
Then those that did not wish to be a part of the Forums could filter
out "New CSSA Forum"
If someone is going to do a forum, may I request that you implement polls?
Email or Forum, the way we vote is somewhat archaic and I pity the person
who has to go through the emails, put them together and tally them up. If
it's easy enough to have usernames (to ensure no double voting), you'd have
a much more efficient/clean system for people to work with. If you want the
easy way out for an email alternative, use a yahoo group in which members have
to be approved to ensure only uvm-affiliated members; owners and modifiers
would be the CSSA officers. Also, members could still opt to have email and
polls are easy to create.
What do you think?
Thanks for your time,
-Cynthia
