We were using WNHelpDesk ( http://www.wickett.net/ ). we started with
access but then switched to SQL server because access was to slow. It
worked pretty well and we were about to buy the web access piece so we
could access the data anywhere. I think the two were going to run a
little over $ 2000. Our facilities maintenance dept was looking at a
product from SchoolDude ( I know, it sounds a little funky) and they
offered an IT component. Its more oriented toward building maintenance
and they are working on an upgrade that will enhance the IT portion.
The nice thing is that it can be used for both and its run on their
servers so you can get to it from anywhere so there are no local costs
such as hardware, software, installation and support. the url is
http://www.schooldude.com We have been using it for a couple of
weeks and it works. You can do a testdrive of both products from their
websites.
Good luck
