Thanks to Al Merritt who sent me back to Brattleboro Retreat for a male Barrows Goldeneye. In evening light, he appeared to be a first winter who hadn't quite gotten full adult plumage. Poor guy looked lonely. Only a bunch of mergansers nearby.
Also forgot to report earlier a Marsh Wren at Herrick's Cove - this evening picked up the Louisiana Waterthrush making a home near Hector Galbraith's in Dummerston.
Back in South Newfane had Evening Grosbeaks, pair of Hairy Woodpeckers, resident Sapsucker.
A 70+ day - not bad for the end of April with few waterfowl, few shorebirds, and warbler peak still to come.
