Does anyone know if fields opposite Otter Creek are flooded and sporting as
assortment of ducks in Spring migration? Or other areas N and S of
Whiting? Maybe we haven't had enough melt and/or rain yet?
Or the fields along the CT river N. of Springfield?
I am just returned from a birding trip to NE and KS mainly to witness the
sandhill crane migration. Spectacular with birds coming into the Platte
River roosts against the setting sun to the West and the full moon rising
in the East! I was also after Prairie Chickens - both lesser and
greater. Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Refuge in KS has, unfortunately, is
suffering from 2 yrs. of drought which is throughout the
mid-US. Nonetheless, there were ducks aplenty to study in brillant
breeding plumages. If anyone would like specifics on birds, places and
people, I would be glad to share.
