I wanted to share a differnt type of rare sighting: a new birding book with
suspense, ornith-obsession and humor,"The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature
and Fowl Obsession". It follows the misadventures and thrills of three
driven men who spend a year chasing as many species as they can identify in
the US. I'm returning my copy to the Montpelier library today, if any
central vermonters are interested.
Also, spotted the red-necked grebe at Berlin Pond yesterday morning, still
plenty of ringnecksin sight, but no sign of the bittern.
