There were around 75 BOWAs on the Norwich Univ. campus at 1:15 today.
Some were in a crab apple tree. I was concerned about walking past it
and disturbing them, but watched 2 students pass by without them
reacting. I continued on my path and stood 3 feet from the tree,
watching them gobble the fruit. There was one bird in particular right
in front of me who moved even closer while climbing down the branch. I
stood motionless for about 10 minutes while they worked the tree all
around me. What a gift to see them so close without optics! Elegant birds.
