In Florence the tree swallows have been back in full force for about a week -
several individuals and a few pairs prior to that. We have nine nest boxes,
all full. Lots of chittering and burbling and preening. On cool mornings
they seem not not to be especially early risers. Nest building continuing a
pace. They are remarkably habituated, and their presence keeps down the mosquito
population (or at least that is our view).
