I would strongly encourage people who are interested in this subject to
consider sending a representative from their district to Dynamic
Landscapes (and parents are welcome to attend too!). The Opening
Session is a presentation from Jennie Lintz of i-Safe America, a
non-profit organization who focuses on this very issue - internet
security for students. In addition to the i-Safe presentaiton, we will
be gathering names and contact info for educators interested in
participating in an i-Safe training in the fall of 2004. More info can
be found at www.isafe.org.

Subject: Safe Use of the Internet by Teens
Importance: Low
Hi,
Our middle school teachers are having a meeting with parents tomorrow
night. There is concern about middle school students using IM on their
home computers, apparently some are spending hours on IM. I have
usually
tried to stay out of the realm of home use but volunteered to come up
with guidelines for safe internet use. Found this web site
http://www.safekids.com/child_safety.htm
Would like to hear what other resources schools have provided parents
for safe home use of computers by teens.
Thanks,
Nancy
